Calabar Gallery showcases contemporary African Artists and African Diaspora artists globally. Curated by Atim Annette Oton, each artist selected has work that deals with the complexities of the African experience.

Based in Harlem, work featured is inspired and influenced by black African culture globally with a focus on dynamic ideas about art and society. Work will include: paintings, sculptures, watercolors, drawings, pastels, prints, photographs, mixed-media works and installations.

Leadership:

Atim Annette Oton is a Nigerian-born, American and British educated designer turned curator who grew up in Nigeria with her mother collecting and buying contemporary art in Lagos, Ibadan, Enugu and Calabar.

Representation:

Calabar Gallery accepts portfolios from artists interested in gallery representation on an ongoing basis. Our Gallery Director, Atim Annette Oton, with experience in the New York art market, personally reviews each portfolio and only accepts artists whose work she determines represents a good fit for the gallery and the art market. There is no fee for gallery representation and artist promotion which includes participation in an exhibition (solo or group) with an opening reception and online promotion on gallery websites, magazine listings, press releases, targeted client presentations, pr efforts, social media, and more. Online Exhibitions:

CALABAR GALLERY in Harlem, New York is seeking African Artists for our first online exhibitions.

Accepted Artwork: Painting, drawing, printmaking, small size sculpture, photography, digital art, mixed media, illustration, etc. are welcome.

To submit: Please be ready to provide your artist bio, and artwork list (i.e. title, medium, dimensions and retail price for each artwork). Please include your name, address, email and phone number on your artist bio and artwork list. Save and label all your image files: Title, name, medium, dimensions and retail price, Example: Untitled, Atim Oton , Oil on Canvas, 20×30, $1000.

CALABAR Gallery charges 40% commission on all artwork sold during online exhibitions. Work must be available and not in a collection. You may submit up to 10 images but prefer Artists to send 3-5 images of their works for selection with descriptions (title, medium, size, year and cost), a short bio, and list of exhibitions in the last 5 years to atimannette.oton@yahoo.com
