Myra Kooy is an African American artist who was adopted by a diverse family in 1962. Emerging from a life inspired by her family’s farm and father’s landscaping/carpentry tools, Kooy channels her artistic expression through elaborate stories and various environmental installations. Before moving to Brooklyn, NY, Kooy established herself as a multidisciplinary artist within the fine arts, thus prompting her to obtain a Master of Fine Arts degree from the City College in Harlem in 2021. She has curated multiple shows at a time with local organizations as well as created murals for local businesses and individual residents in Brooklyn; furthermore, exhibiting her work through multiple galleries and a published book.
