Lisa DuBois approaches each of her projects with passion because she has an insatiable curiosity for the arts. Lisa is an artist, curator, and photojournalist based in New York, as well as the Photo Editor and Diversity Advisor for Social Documentary Network. Lisa is the founder of X Gallery. A Harlem gallery transformed into an online artist collective after the onset of COVID 19. When COVID arrived, Lisa recognized the historical significance of the moment and curated a video titled “Awareness through Conceptual Art and Photography. ” in response to the worldwide pandemic. It’s on YouTube and features artists from all over the world, including Africa, South America, and the Middle East. Her most recent project was as a creative consultant and curator for ArtontheAve, where she was instrumental in launching Columbus Avenue’s first large-scale socially distanced outdoor exhibition. She has shown her work as an artist both internationally and domestically, including at the Schomburg Cultural Center for Research in Black Culture and the Gordon Parks Museum in Fort Kansas. She was interviewed about her work on BronxNet, Nola TV, and Singleshot, and she took part in numerous artist talks. Lisa’s work as an artist and curator has been recognized by the Guardian and the New York Times. HARLEM IS …honored Lisa for being one of the individuals helping to heal Harlem during the pandemic because of her masked statue project to bring mask-wearing awareness to Harlem.
