Ghanaian based multidisciplinary artist, Patrick Tagoe-Turkson has been honoring his love for nature and his skills in historical Effutu Asafo flag art making for the past several years. Originally receiving his MFA degree in Painting at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, Patrick blended his native flag art concepts with contemporary practice.
His evolution into Ecological art allowed him to introduce another element to his union and extend the range of his talent even further. His use of found floating flip-flop debris collected from beaches in Ghana allows Patrick to challenge the boundaries of his formal art training – acting as environmental activist, a documentarist and a storyteller.
Receiver of many awards, Patrick’s artwork has been shown in exhibitions in China, India, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Germany, France, Mexico, U.S.A, Spain, Belgium, Haiti, South Africa, Nigeria, Senegal, and Ghana, including the Korean Nature Art Biennale, South Korea and the Echigo Tsumari Art Triennale, Japan. His works are in permanent collections at the Royal Ontario Museum, Canada, the Casoria Contemporary Art Museum in Italy and private homes both in Ghana and abroad.
