This piece was one of the first that Frvn painted during a transitional time in her journey of self discovery. While grieving a loved one and being filled with mixed emotion, Frvn found her Art journey and things changed for the better after completing this piece. ‘Her Crown Sprouts Differently’ represents the beauty in individuality which we all carry, embracing the uniqueness of your light and dark times while knowing your crown will always be yours and you’re deserving of self love.

Jst Frvn (pronounced as Fran) is a self-taught visual artist from Philadelphia. Her paintings express black beauty and emotion while exploring mediums such as oil and acrylic paints. Born to Haitian immigrant parents, Frvn is a first generation American. She began drawing in grade school and took painting as an elective during college. After realizing how censured her creativity was during the course, she decided to take an alternative route with her art. The Philly native has exhibited her art at Her Space Women’s Art Exhibit 2020-2021 and The Roots Art Culture 2021, both located in Philadelphia.
