Mwamba Chikwemba is a multidisciplinary artist living in Lusaka, Zambia. She holds a diploma in Public Administration from National Institute of Public Administration and a certificate in Information Communication Technology. In 2016 she was selected has an artist of the month for June by the Germany Embassy in Lusaka, Zambia. In 2017, she attended a National Women’s Workshop and competition in Livingstone by FSD Zambia, and was awarded 2nd prize winner. By July 2018, she was an artist in residency at Great More Studios in Cape Town, South Africa and in 2019, Mwamba was selected to be one of the few African artists to attend the Sanaa Festival; showed her works and created a collaborative mural in South Australia. Recently she attended a residency at Nafasi arts Space in Tanzania. She participated in the Cynthia Zukas Young Artist Award competition and was awarded 1st prize winner November, 2020. Mwamba is an active member of Zambia National Visual Arts Council she has participated in several local and international exhibitions. Her practice explores why women wear head wraps cultural and spiritually.
