Jay Golding’s mixed-media portrait and figurative paintings draw inspiration from his extensive travels, rich lineage, and literary influences while exploring themes related to tribal cultures and ancient mythology. His subjects often feature masked characters created under the pseudonym Kwame, in either landscaped or flat settings. The work is characterized by a rich and vibrant palette that includes shades of blue, green, yellow, orange, and purple- applied in complex textures that seldom incorporate recycled materials such as cardboard, paper towels, newspaper, and other found elements. Jay received his BFA in Studio Art from Kean University and has exhibited his work in various exhibitions in the greater NY/NJ Metropolitan area, including the Akwaaba Gallery, The Monmouth Museum, and The Noyes Museum of Stockton University. Jay has also assisted and created public art in the form of murals in the United States, Ethiopia, and Mexico.
