On Sunday Mornings by Robert Daniels, 2021, Mixed Media, 23.5 x 27 inches
“This work depicts a mother and her two sons dressed up in their ‘Sunday go to meeting attire.’ Their faces express each individual’s mood: sometimes, we are not all on the same page but we understand the need to act as one. We are stronger collectively.”
Robert “Bob” Daniels was born in Mount Vernon, New York, and is the product of a public-school education in New York City where his love for reading fueled his passion for art through penciling his daydreams. He achieved a B.A. in studio art from the Herbert H. Lehman College in the Bronx and has been an art teacher in the New York City school system for over 20 years. Daniels is a passionate contemporary artist who uses all types of mediums, tools, and surfaces to express both his feelings and visions, and was proclaimed a nationally recognized artist in the state of New York. Much of his work is inspired by the colorful stories of his father’s Caribbean heritage and his mother’s Indigenous culture to weave his visual stories. Daniels has been exhibited extensively in the states, as well as internationally. He currently creates and exhibits most of his art in Italy.
