NNEKA CHIMA was born in 1986 in Lagos, Nigeria. She received a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2012, a National Diploma In Fine And Applied Arts from the Institute of Management And Technology, Enugu in 2007. Inspired by linocut printing, she loved its monochrome effect, how llines created gives a sense of movement and it brings life to the work. She also paints using water color, ink, acrylic and crayons.
Her artwork takes a critical look into everyday life through people’s dreams, premonitions and experiences. She is inspired by unuttered thoughts, feelings and expressions of people. She uses the lines in the lino to depict the overwhelming unexpressed vibrations from these suppressed feelings. The colors in her work are suggestions of hope
