This painting is a portrayal of how urbanization contributes to intercultural unity. Urbanization brings many challenges: pressure on sanitation and water facilities, environmental pollution, health hazards and more. As neighboring cultures interact, work, and communicate with each other on these problems, communities integrate; thus, revealing the vital role that urbanization plays in the global trans-cultural community resulting in diversity, peace, and unity.
Samuel Prophask Asamoah is an artist from Ghana whose passion for art emerged at a young age while drawing and coloring. Asamoah was trained at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi – a city in Ghana. His artistic ideas are in abstracts, realism, and surrealism, and he is passionate about the inclusion of colors. Using diverse medias such as oil paint, acrylic paint, oil and chalk pastels, color pencils, and charcoal with a cotton canvas as his preferred working surface, he also includes found objects such as plastics and newspapers in the form of recycled art to address environmental and sustainability issues. His works bear traces of Ghanaian cultural elements and other cultures -this makes Asamoah’s art transcultural and transnational. His art has been part of exhibitions in Ghana and internationally, and has a following of art collectors/art lovers that are local and international.
