Richard Adusu, born in the early 80’s, lives and works in Greater Accra, Ghana. He holds Diploma in painting from The Ghanatta College of Arts and Design. He calls his style “Spontaneous Realism” as a trademark for his art. He applies the paints in a high viscosity whiles he flows freely with his brush strokes without any formula. Tactility, broken textures and uniqueness in color hues are some of the qualities one can find in his paintings. Adusu mostly paints on a black background canvases in order to tell the correlation and harmony between blacks and whites as one cannot do without the other to damn “Racism”. His inspiration is derived from nature and the activities around him be it social, political or cultural issues and their effects on humanity. Adusu believes being an artist is a calling which one must do with all honesty and truthfulness in order to cause positive consciousness in humanity.
