Calabar Gallery in Harlem is pleased to announce its first Arts Residency targeting BLACK ARTISTS IN BROOKLYN AND HARLEM, NEW YORK. CALABAR GALLERY ARTS RESIDENCY at BKLYN COMMONS is a 3 month residency targeting Black artists who are African American, Caribbean and African and reside in Brooklyn and Harlem.
BED-STUY: The residency involves the use of a space in the Bedford Stuyvesant/ Williamsburg location of BKLYN Commons for 3 months to produce a new series of work culminating in an exhibition.

BEDFORD STUYVESANT (BED-STUY) ART RESIDENCY:
We are seeking Artists who cannot afford a studio space and needs space to produce new work. Bklyn COMMONS is a workspace that is shared so the work produced cannot be toxic or have fumes. Suggested artwork: non-toxic paint, photography, mixed media, watercolor, and drawing. The deadline for our application is June 30th at 9pm.
What we are seeking:
- A new work project proposal: one page description of what you intend to work on and what you hope to produce in 3 months
- A bio of yourself listing any residencies, significant projects, opportunities, prizes or mentions and Resume
- A portfolio of your work consists of work in the last 3-5 years showing your art process and growth, if you have a series, show some of it or if you do not, show work with different themes, topics or styles
- A list of exhibitions in the last 3-5 years, this could be in galleries, art fairs, art spaces or any place you have exhibited
- 3 references: a gallery, curator, art mentor, art critic, or someone who knows your work or about your work capacity
- Proof of residency in Harlem and Brooklyn, we intend to confirm this
