Donchellee Fulwood is a Visual Artist born in Secaucus, NJ, and raised in Jersey City. In the course of her work, she creates by using acrylic paints on both canvas and basswood surfaces. She also uses ink on paper to create compositions. By using both mediums, Fulwood came up with a unique trademark of pattern designs within a full shape and in compositions, both in black-and-white and in color. In the course of her work, Fulwood looks back to the flow of lines that she has drawn in her sketchbook. She selects different techniques for her paintings so that she can express her personality and her creativity through unique styles of abstract patterns and blocks of color. Fulwood would fill the whole shape of an object like a shoe or a branch with small patterns in order to define that shape and suggest deeper relationships with nature and life. Through contrasting patterns, she tries to illustrate both sides of emotion in human relationships, based on reality and everyday life. Ever since the Jersey City Art and Studio Tour in 2017, Fulwood has shown her artworks at the Jersey City Rotunda Gallery in City Hall. As a current resident of Jersey City, she has also shown artworks in group exhibitions, such as Project Greenville, Art House Productions, Church of Saint Paul and the Incarnation, 313 Gallery, Pershing Field Community Center, and Triangle Park Community Center. She is a member of Mama Contemporary Decentralized in Jersey City. In 2011, Fulwood graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ, with a BA in Art. Up to this day, she is still creating artworks for displays, as she continues to strive for success.
